When my editor at Rescripted reached out to me about trying Trilastin and sharing my honest opinion for a piece, I was thrilled. I was just about 38 weeks pregnant, and although I have no issues with my stretch marks from my first pregnancy and even take pride in them, I was profoundly itchy this time around and willing to try anything to help.
I’ll cut to the chase here and share the short of it: this stuff works.
Trilastin: What is it?
Trilastin is a pregnancy-safe skincare line that helps hydrate your skin, produce collagen, and promote elasticity for your skin as your stomach grows during pregnancy. The brand’s products are dermatologist-tested, never tested on animals, hypoallergenic, and paraben-free — and smell amazing, which we’ll get to!
I was gifted the three-piece Trilastin Maternity Stretch Mark Prevention Trio - Cream, Oil, Serum starter bundle for my trial. Now let’s take a look at each product’s ingredients and their claims:
-
The Hydro-Thermal Accelerator is a self-warming, vitamin-infused skin serum. The self-warming technology helps open your pores, allowing the key ingredients of the cream and oil to better absorb into your skin.
-
The Maternity Cream is a hydrating mix of botanicals that help nourish your skin before, during, and after pregnancy. This cream promotes collagen growth and skin elasticity while simultaneously providing intense hydration and vitamin-rich essentials, as they claim, without leaving a greasy residue behind.
-
The Nourishing Body Oil, which is a blend of plant-derived oils and extracts, hydrates and moisturizes your skin to relieve any itchiness and repair cracked skin. The formula is meant to help smooth your skin’s texture and reduce the appearance of stretch marks.
The promised result? The ultimate pregnancy glow, or, at the very least, a relaxing maternity skincare routine.
How do you use it?
For best results, it’s recommended that you use Trilastin’s complete routine bundle twice daily for at least 90 days. Apply all products after cleaning and drying the intended area. You then apply the self-warming Hydro-Thermal Accelerator to the area, giving it a minute to absorb into your skin, followed by the Maternity Cream, and lastly the Nourishing Oil.
My results after using Trilastin
As I said, I was already 38 weeks pregnant when I received and started using the products. There have been about 45 days between then and the time in which I am writing this review.
So, while I have not used them for the entire recommended 90 days (yet), and admittedly missed a day or two because you know, mom-brain, I can honestly say they work.
What I was hoping for, at a minimum, was relief from my extremely itchy belly, and these products did just that. They impressed me even further by also minimizing the look of my stretch marks post-delivery. Whether these marks were from my first or second baby, I can’t say for sure. But the marks look increasingly less purple and deep than they did immediately after birth.
Before & After:
And while it’s nothing too intense or overwhelming, the Hydro-Thermal Accelerator serum does, in fact, warm up as you rub it into your skin. I have definitely used other products that boast this same claim, but this one actually does what it’s supposed to and feels soothing as you apply it.
Now, onto the shining star — in my opinion — of the trio: the Maternity Cream. I am super picky about lotions and creams. I often don’t like the texture and greasy residue and find scents to be overwhelming or too artificial-smelling for my liking. This cream, however, smells incredible. Scented with citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) peel oil, citrus grandis (grapefruit) fruit extract, and citrus grandis (grapefruit) peel oil, the moisturizer smells light, airy, and fresh, yet never overwhelming. I truly loved it and looked forward to applying it as it never left my hands feeling greasy afterward.
The Nourishing Body Oil absorbed right on top of the Maternity Cream and didn’t feel too sticky or thick. I applied the trio of products just on my stomach around my belly button where I have stretch marks. So, after applying them, I would just leave my shirt lifted for a few minutes to make sure they were all absorbed.
Give Trilastin a try!
Even though I’m proud of my stretch marks after having two children, I like that Trilastin has helped even out the texture of my skin and alleviated some of the discoloration there. I’m excited to see how much more the skincare system can do for me as I continue to use it for the recommended period. I would recommend that other pre- or post-natal women try it out if they’re interested!
