Topics to Discuss in Your First Fertility Consulatation with Dr. Asima Ahmad, Carrot Fertility

Hi everyone, I'm Dr. Asma Ahmad and I'm a reproductive endocrinology and infertility specialist as well as co-founder and chief medical officer of Care Fertility. Fertility consultations can be intimidating and stressful for people and they may leave you feeling overwhelmed afterwards. So today I wanted to share some important topics to discuss with your provider at your first fertility consultation so you can get the most out of your appointment and leave feeling empowered and educated. To start, let your provider know your family building goals meaning how many children would you like to have in your ideal family size. Let them know about any pertinent or personal family medical history so for example have you gotten pregnant before and have you had multiple miscarriages or do you have multiple family members with endometriosis or even family members with early onset menopause. Let them know what treatments you're interested in or that you would like to avoid and let them know if you have any concerns with the timing of treatments or would like more information on cost-effective treatments and of course do not ask for multiples. We're not trying to have twins or triplets. Singleton pregnancy is the healthiest thing for the pregnant person and the baby.
