What To Know About Intuitive Eating and PCOS

Hi, I'm Dr. Margo Harrison, 1 of Poly's medical advisors. Intuitive eating and polycystic ovary syndrome is a common topic that Poly's members ask about. Intuitive eating is about trusting your body to make food choices that feel good for you. Many people with PCOS have struggled with being told to lose weight for years.

70 to 90% of people with PCOS are also experiencing insulin resistance. That's why dieting is so common in the PCOS community. We know today that there are major downsides to this. It can be stressful, both physically and emotionally, and people with PCOS are at a higher risk of developing an eating disorder. Some general tips to start to consider are, stop attaching morality to food.

You're not good or bad for your dietary choices. You wanna focus on which health promoting foods you can add to your plate rather than what you can subtract. Understand that your weight and cravings may fluctuate, especially if you have chronically restricted calories before you reach your set point.
